2009 Review

The 2009 season was definetly a tough one for Muggeridge and not one that you would like to remember in your racing career.

Muggas started the 2009 WSBK season with a very under powered Suzuki Celani GSXR. There was definetly hope for improvement of the bike as it was prepared and serviced by the Alstare squad. However, financial problems in the team prevented getting the right upgrades and improvements.

In race 2 at Assen, the fourths round of the championship, Muggeridge had a huge high-side and fractured one of his vertebra which didn't get properly discovered till three rounds later after another heavy crash at Salt Lake where he broke another vertebra which put him out for a couple of months. In the meantime the Celani team's financial situation didn't improve and they decided to put an Italian rider with financial support on the bike. So Muggas was left without ride.

In August Muggeridge agreed with the HM Plant Honda team to do a couple rounds as a stand in rider for injured Glen Richards in the British Superbike Championship.

In September the Suzuki Alstare squad needed a stand in rider once again for injured Max Neukirchner who looked like he was going to be out for the rest of the year. Muggas completed the Nürburgring, Imola and Magny Cours round for the Alstare team and even though the bike needed a lot of work it was great to ride again with a factory team.

Unfortunately he wasn't able to finish the season with the team, as Suzuki had decided that Sylvan Guintoli will be there rider for 2010 and ride and test the bike at the last round at Portimao.
